Business Systems
At the Brown Corporation our main business computer system is an AS400. On the AS400 we use Manufacturing Accounting and Production Information Control System (MAPICS) as our main business software. We use MAPICS for Inventory, Payroll and Purchasing and MAPICS International Financial Management (IFM) for Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and General Ledger. We use a package on the AS400 called PLM&C for Time and Attendance. MAPICS has an ISO 9001 registration.
EDI
Future Three Software is used for all EDI processes. The Auto Release package is used to handle all incoming and outgoing EDI transactions between Brown Corporation's customer base. The Automap tools give us the capability to make mapping changes; therefore we have more control to meet the ongoing requirements of the industry. To ensure accuracy, all shipments are scanned using the AutoScan package. Not only does it consist of barcode scanning for verfication, but also allows for complete shipper creation. The finished goods labels are printed directly from the actual requirements. A PC based label designer is included to allow for fast and easy label modifications. To communicate with our suppliers we have implemented the Vendor Release package. All of these packages are linked to our business package (MAPICS) through their very flexible Program Interface Tool. Customization can be done without effecting future upgrades or fixes. Brown Corporation is registered with the Autochain Online. We recognize the importance of keeping data centralized and common to protect it's integrity.
