Design: Design for Manufacturability, Mass Optimization, Plant Layout and Packaging - Using CATIA, Unigraphics,
PDGS, SDRC Ideas
Analysis: Stamping Simulations, Crash, NVH, Fatigue, Strength, Heat Transfer and Tolerance Stack UP - Using LS-Dyna,
NASTRAN, Femb, Femap, and Hypermesh, DCS
Testing: Drop Tower-Test components during impact for energy management characteristics. Strain-Mount
strain gages on components to determine stresses during loading. This can be used for fatigue analysis to determine how long a part will last before failure. Vibration-Mount accelerometers to a component.
Hit component with hammer. Determine natural frequencies that the component or assembly resonates at (correlate with a Nastran NVH run). Hardness-Test materials for hardness value. Rockwell B and C scale.
Fatigue- Load a part repeatedly until failure while capturing how many times the load was applied (cycles) when failure occurs.
Validation: Automatic CMM', Reports given in: -CMDANA -DCS (similar to cmdana)
-CAMEO (to display histograms, etc.)
